  •  Letter of Appreciation from Papua New Guinea Water Board

I would like to take this time to thank you and your Project Managers and Supervisors for the opportunity I have had to work with them as the Counter Part Assistant Supervisor from the PNG Waterboard on the construction of the Mt. Lunaman and Bumayong Water Reservoirs. (10 ML & 2 × 2.5 ML Capacity)

As a young Graduate Engineer being on a project of such magnitude like this, it has been a challenge for me, even though not contractually obliged to, I had to stand in as representatives from SMEC were not always there on site. However with the level of working co operation established on site between PNG W/B and PMT things worked out pretty well and the end result is marvelous.

I also would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to everyone with whom I worked along with since the early stages of the project. I would like to make a special mention of Mr. Wayne, and Peter Nielsen who were very co operative and consultative with us to make sure everything was done according to the PNG Waterboard’s standards of practice.

Peter Nielsen especially was wvery instrumental on the job; he kept things under control and got things going on schedule. He has brilliant organising skills to get activities going together in harmony. He also has such a great Public Relations (PR) ability thus creating a good working relationship with the locals and clients therefore there has never been any problem on site with the locals. I honestly am honoured to have worked with him and have learnt a lot from him. I believe he has much more potential to utilise on even bigger jobs than this.

From the experience gained from the project, I was called to go over to Rabaul to be the Project Engineer on a similar project but a smaller tank than the one in Lae.

I thank you all and appreciate working with you as a team to “Wok Bilong Nringim Gutpela Wara Long Lae Siti” (W.Hansen 2001) (Working to Bring Better Water Supply to Lae City)

I hope we could work together as a team again anytime in the future. Have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

    Thank you,

    Nelson Sali
